Maison des générations (Inter-generational House) and inside pool
Interesting projects for L'Île-des-Sœurs
During his meeting with reporters of the local press, Mayor Claude Trudel briefly discussed two subjects that are of particular interest to L'Île-des-Sœurs residents. He pointed out that progress is being made in the Maison des Générations (Inter-generational House) and in the aquatic equipment projects.
It seems that the Maison des Générations project can proceed without any snags. No resident expressed opposition to the zoning changes required for this project so work can go ahead as scheduled. Mayor Trudel however explained that he had met with people living in one of the neighbouring buildings of the future community centre and they expressed concerns about the peace being disturbed. After the discussions, they were assured that the Borough would take all possible measures to avoid causing any inconvenience resulting from the noise and congestion that might come about from the changes to be made to the former gas station.

As for the aquatic equipment, Mayor Trudel did not have much to report, although he reminded residents that this project’s purpose was to provide Verdun residents with equipment that would make it possible for them to engage in water sports all year round.

Before it can proceed, however, this project must first fulfill a feasibility study for which the Borough must obtain the required funds. The work will cost several millions of dollars; the study alone would cost $496,000.00.

Preliminary studies show that the locations being considered are the Elgar Community Centre in L'Île-des-Soeurs and Therrien Park in the mainland. The Council plans to complete these two projects at the same time.

Le Magazine will no doubt have a chance to follow developments on these projects in the next few months.
