Urgent need of volunteers for Daffodil Days
The Canadian Cancer Society is actively looking for volunteers from March 31st to April 6th to help out with its annual Daffodil Days campaign. We need people who can deliver flowers, sell flowers, or help out in other ways.
To become a volunteer, call Nathalie Lapierre at 514 255-5151, ext. 5122, or e-mail her at nlapierre@quebec.cancer.ca. Help us fight cancer!
In this regard, did you know that the Canadian Cancer Society is the largest charitable funder of cancer research in Canada? The CCS funds research projects on all types and all aspects of cancer. This year alone, the Society will give Quebec researchers over $8 million to fund important work.
Last year, there was an estimated 42,100 new cases of cancer in Quebec (166,400 in Canada) and 19,700 cancer related deaths (73 800 au Canada). But there is hope: at least 50% of all cancers can be prevented through a healthy lifestyle and improved public health policies – two fronts on which the CCS is actively working.
