Consume energy more efficiently to... dance better!
Verdun Borough announced on January 29 at the Visitor Services Centre of the Pôle des Rapides that it is participating in Hydro-Quebec’s campaign, Diagnostic résidentiel Mieux consommer (Energy Wise Home Diagnostic), in conjunction with Lachine and LaSalle boroughs and the south west region.
This campaign has already been successful in Dorval and in other cities; its aim is to encourage residents to fill up the Energy Wise Home Diagnostic questionnaire to support a community project. For each questionnaire completed online (through the Internet) or on hard copy, the Borough will receive $30.00 or $35.00. These amounts will be used to expand and improve the exterior dance floor at the greenhouses, Mayor Claude Trudel explained. “We thank Hydro-Québec for this project which is part of a beautiful ecological plan. It’s an interesting opportunity for all Verdun residents to get involved in a collective effort”, said Mayor Trudel. The goal is to raise more than $130,000.00 to fund this project which is connected to Verdun’s exterior dance floor, a place that is frequently visited in the summer and autumn months, enabling us to satisfy the popular demand for this area. The first announcement of results is scheduled in March. Verdun organisations will be invited to join this campaign and their role will be to encourage their members to fill in the questionnaire. The more questionnaires are filled, the more money that the Borough can raise to attain this collective project.
To fill in Hydro-Quebec’s Diagnostic résidentiel Mieux consommer questionnaire (English questionnaire is Energy Wise Home Diagnostic) Verdun residents need to go to the web site of Hydro-Quebec at:
www.courantcollectif.com. Mayor Trudel is encouraging all residents to fill up this questionnaire on the Internet. “It’s a lot faster and will definite benefit the environment.” A paper version is also available.
“I am convinced that Verdun residents will participate massively, Claude Trudel added. It is a project that concerns all members of the community because it offers concrete measures to reduce energy consumption and also recommends new ways for homes to save on electricity. At the same time, all residents will be pleased that they have contributed to the accomplishment of a community effort like the expansion of the exterior dance floor of Verdun, thanks to this awareness campaign”, Mayor Trudel said in closing.
