Union Montréal-Verdun says Louise Harel contradicted Richard Langlais
(PV) “By committing – in her political programme – to ‘apply at the latest in 2012 the collection of household waste to once a week for all boroughs’, Vision Montréal leader Louise Harel contradicted what her Verdun mayor candidate and team said. Her team promised Verdun residents that household garbage will again be collected twice a week.” This is what the two new candidates in Claude Trudel’s team - Andrée Champoux and Ann Guy - stated on behalf of the Union Montréal-Verdun party.

“Apart from the fact that a second garbage collection per week would cost several hundreds of thousands of dollars to Verdun residents, one wonders who really is representing the true intentions of Vision Montréal - is it Mrs. Harel who is intent on changing structures and promoting the centralisation of services; or is it Richard Langlais who has no experience whatsoever in municipal matters and who says anything just to win votes? People would like to know who’s telling the truth on this issue”, demanded Andrée Champoux and Ann Guy.

“When one sees the lack of leadership and the improvisation of the Vision Montréal candidate running for Verdun mayor, one has the right to be worry about his powers and his genuine desire to resist the fixed intention of his leader to centralise local services to the City of Montreal – services that are important to residents such as urban planning, road network, snow clearing and household garbage collection. The guiding theme of Louise Harel which describes her political programme is centralisation, and again centralisation”, present Mayor Claude Trudel said.

“After thinking long and hard about it, we finally chose in 2001 to decentralise Montreal, making our administration closer to residents; we will not let Louise Harel play games with our present structures to the detriment of maintaining and improving services. Talk to us about services, Mrs. Harel, not about structures”, said Claude Trudel in closing.
