L'Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard Esso Station definitely closed
The Esso station on L'Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard closed its doors on December 15 and there are no plans to re-open it. A sign was posted on the building and the company now has to de-contaminate the soil.
Meanwhile, Borough Council decided to abandon the zoning project which would have allowed the establishment of a repair and maintenance garage for vehicles on chemin du Golf in L'Île-des-Sœurs. This decision was made when the owner of the building withdrew his request.
Mayor Trudel commented on this decision when a resident raised it during the December 2 council meeting. In a previous meeting, the Council withdrew draft zoning regulation 1700-64 from its agenda after several residents expressed their objections. It was however preparing to introduce an amended draft, but this step no longer became necessary when the building owner withdrew his request.
Mayor Trudel did not however close the door completely on the possibility of relocating this garage. He invited residents to suggest to Council members other areas that could accommodate this type of business.
But it isn’t clear if there is indeed no other area in L'Île-des-Sœurs for a maintenance and repair garage. In the premises of the Gravel Group located in 1000 René-Lévesque Boulevard, this kind of service is offered to car and other vehicle owners. In a separate article, details about the Gravel Group – a company that has been operating in L'Île-des-Sœurs for several years – are reported.
