Special snow clearance bulletin

Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel is pleased to announce the special bulletin that has been issued on Snow Clearance in Verdun..

In presenting this special bulletin to representatives of local media, Mr. Trudel mentioned that "Many residents wonder about the various steps required to clear the snow from the streets and sidewalks and to ensure pedestrian safety during the winter season." The Mayor pointed out that "this special bulletin contains a lot of very pertinent information about these winter operations."

In addition to details on such aspects as dynamic parking, where to put household waste bags and containers, residents will also learn, in this bulletin, that the Borough has 115 km of streets and over 180 km of sidewalks to clear and that for a normal winter, over 12,000 trucks, filled with snow, dump their load down the snow chute.

André Savard, Borough Councillor and Chairman of the Public works and traffic committee, wanted to stress the committee members' close collaboration in developing this information tool, which is "designed to answer the questions that are asked every winter about snow clearance operations." He also mentioned the excellent cooperation of the blue collar crews assigned to the snow clearance operations "who do extraordinary work to make sure that the snow is cleared from the streets and sidewalks as quickly as possible after each snowfall."

With the first heavy snowfall of the season last week and to facilitate snow clearance operations, Borough authorities wish to take this opportunity to thank motorists for the civic-mindedness they are showing during these operations.

Through the Borough's concern for the environment, a limited number of copies of the Snow Clearance bulletin will be printed; however, it can also be downloaded from the Home page of the Borough's website. For residents who don't have access to the Internet, copies of this Bulletin will be available, starting December 22, at the various Borough facilities.
