Elgar Community Centre hosts great Halloween ball

For the first time, a great Halloween ball is being held for young children in L'Île-des-Sœurs. The event is scheduled for this Friday, October 31 from 9h30 to 11h30, at the Elgar Community Centre (260 Elgar Street).

The ball will be a costume party for children aged 0 to 6. There will be pumpkin decorations, parachute games, woodworking, different amusement activities and of course, lots of candy and other sweets. Kathryn Kellner, mother of six children and owner of the Peekaboo daycare, and Sarah McEvoy, teacher, author, and mother of two-and-a-half year old twins are organising this party.

In light of the residents’ growing interest for celebrating Halloween in the island, sponsors were sought so the party could be celebrated on a larger scale. Finally, the great Halloween Ball will be a major event in which several retailers in the island are involved. The public is also counting on the presence of firemen who promised to be there unless they are called to an emergency elsewhere. In the interest of safety, they will be providing guidance and rules for kids and their parents to observe during events like Halloween.

Admission to the Halloween party is free for parents who come with their kids and for babies. A $13.00 contribution is however requested for other children to help pay for the costs. For more information, call Kathryn Kellner at 514-656-4152.
