Mayor Trudel explained that the Montreal Fire Fighters Association had agreed to let their firefighters settle in temporary trailers to be set up near fire station 67 so that rapid deployment of the ladder truck can be undertaken. The ladder-truck will be transferred from Outremont Borough station 75 to René-Lévesque Boulevard in L'Île-des-Sœurs. What’s left to be done therefore is to install trailers to accommodate personnel; service will then be in effect.
Claude Trudel believes that these measures can be accomplished by end June. He took the opportunity during the interview with the Magazine’s representative to express his satisfaction with the Association’s willingness to cooperate in this matter. It’s even more appreciated, given that negotiations on the collective agreement are ongoing at the moment”, he added.
The trailers will be used only while construction work for the expansion of station 67 is underway. Verdun Borough officials should be approving the relocation plans for the new premises expected to be completed in 2011. |
